Sound practical feedback and learner response

Image
1)Mr Halsey WWW: Great choice of song and the scene selection for the parallel element is just perfect - exactly the shots/reactions from characters that you want. The switch to contrapuntal is excellent - it gets a clear audible reaction from the audience and the   extremely violent scene coupled with the pop song meets the brief perfectly 2) Type up your feedback from fellow students - WWW: Fits the tone perfectly First clip was parallel, contrapuntal video was perfect  3)Personal WWW: the contrapuntal video ended matching the beat of the song  EBI make sure video is sized to fit in the frame 4) L earner response:  Whose did you think was best and why? In my opinion Janice's video was the best one as before the switch of scenes  i wanted to almost join in dancing until it changed to the fighting scene which evoked almost an awkward feeling as the song i once wanted to dance to was played over a brutal scene, ti was overall done very well. Sound analysis: blog tasks

  1) Find a film clip on YouTube that uses sound in an interesting way. Analyse the use of sound, making sure you use the key language we have learned about sound in film: B In the beginning of the scene we as an audience are made to believe that the sound is Non-diagetic when the 3 bank robbers exit the vehicle as there is no apparent movement or expressions that indicates that they heard the music having very focused and trained expressions, that was until our perception was altered by the appearance of the get away driver whom was wearing headphones the use of this prop allows us to now understand as to why the previous characters showed zero reaction to the song as only he could hear it making us acutely aware of the fact that the music was infact diagetic backed by the drivers enthusiastic dancing whilst waiting for the others in the car adding a layer of humour to a serious situation. The music was 100% Parallel throughout from the beginning shot being tense and cool to the...

Film & TV Language: Lighting

Image
  1) Still image analysis The key light in this photograph is positioned on the left of the subject which helps produce a silhouette of light on her hand and part of her face which in turn gives off the impression of a headlight from maybe a car? or a torch. The photo appears to be taken at night due to the lack of  back lighting making behind the woman look almost unrealistically dark. This photo depicts an example of low key lighting as the only apparent light source is from the key light itself added onto the fact that the shadows overtake majority of the subjects face although not as harsh due to it being soft lighting . the  chiaroscuro adds meaning to the photo and allows the focal point to be on the cigarette smoke which is picked up by the light. The key light is positioned as overhead lighting and is clearly soft due to the lack of coverage meaning its quite far from the subject. This photo depicts an example of low key lighting due to the ...
